This genus contains two North American species, these are fairly small dragonflies with hairy brown thoraxes marked with metallic green.  The abdomen is narrowed before the middle segments and then widened to rear.  The wings are clear but may be marked at the base with amber. The mature adult eyes are a brilliant emerald green. The legs are black,

This genus is know to inhabit bogs, lakes, ponds, cedar swamps. One of our most northern groups of odonates.
