Pygmy Clubtails

Pygmy Clubtails

genus: Lanthus

Pygmy Clubtails

This genus includes two of the smallest of our gomphids.  The thorax is brownish or black in color marked with yellow.  The abdomen is slender and black with pale lateral stripes.  Wings are clear, the face is cross striped with black, the frons is half yellow and black covers the remaining top of the head.  The two species of this genus are nearly identical, and resemble Least Clubtails.

Normal habitat is boggy seeps and swamps, usually with skunk cabbage and ferns
