Wide-tipped Clubtails

Wide-tipped Clubtails

genus: Gomphus
subgenus:
Gomphurus

Wide-tipped Clubtails

Most of these large showy dragons have prominent clubs. In all, the thorax is yellow, olive, or green, striped with brown or black. All species have pale frontal thoracic markings that when viewed from the front resemble a U or W. The shape of these stripes is a helpful ID mark.  These stripes usually are fused with a colorful leading edge called a "collar".
