Adult dragonflies may live a few weeks, in some species, just long
enough to fully mature and then reproduce. In some cases, if conditions are
favorable, they then enter what is referred to as the post-reproductive period.
The post-reproductive phase could be called old age.
Most of the time, they sit around watching television, go out for the senior specials
in the local restaurants, and swap stories about the good old days. Well, not quite,
but during this phase, the dragonfly's color becomes dull, wings may be worn and
tattered and the frequent visits to the breeding sites cease. Sadly, this is the
last phase of a dragonflies life.
