Damselfly Head & Eyes

Head and face pattern can be important in damsel ID.  The color, size and shape of the postocular spots is especially important. Also note the presence or absence of a occipital bar.

Postocular spots can vary in size, shape and color

An occipital bar may be present between the spots

Here the postocular spots and occipital bar join to form a "dumbbell" shape
